Abstract
This study analyzed the improvement of students' vocabulary masterythrough situational language teaching. The objectives of the study are to find outteaching learning situation when situational language teaching are implemented inEnglish class, to find out whether the use of situational language teaching use canimprove the students' vocabulary mastery on second grade of MI Roudhotul AtfalKrandon Lor Suruh, and to find out the strength and weakness of using situationallanguage teaching in English class. The methodology of this study is collaborativeclassroom action research. In this research the writer was the teacher and assistedby an observer, she notes all of the process in learning activities. To find out theimprovement of students' vocabulary mastery he used test, namely pre test andpost test. He used two cycle, in each comprised two meeting and each meetingcomprised planning, implementation of the action, and reflection. The studyshowed that the students involved actively in teaching learning process, they wereinterested and enthusiastic than before. Based on field note each meeting, it canbe found that situational language teaching have strength and weakness in theclass. The result of this action research is the majority of the mean of pre test 51,5to 68,5 in the post test cycle I, the mean score of pre test 60 to 76 in the post testcycle II. From the review on the research result, the mean of post test is in cycle Iand cycle II is 72,25 is higher than the mean of pretest is in cycle I and cycle II is55.75.
