Abstract

This research intends to find out the effect of English Mindset Coaching toStudents in the English Department of State Islamic Studies Institute of Salatiga.The subjects were 25 first semester students attending English major in theEducation Faculty. Questionnaires were given to profile students' Englishactivities condition. Furthermore, they were given a pre-test that is an oralpresentation within "Why you think English is important" topic. The researcherbegan a three months experiment. During the experiment period, the researcher,give a series of activities to change the mindset of students into English situationwhile they are in Indonesian or Javanese community. The post-test which wasexactly the same topic of speaking presentation was given at the end of theexperimental period. The results show significant differences of student's betweenthe pre-test and the post-test.The Researcher obtains that the arithmetic r is 0, 736. To know the significance ofvariable X to variable Y; the arithmetic r should be compared with r-table withthe number of sample (25 students) and the level of significance 5% (0,05). Itproves that arithmetic calculation is higher than r-table because rh is 0, 735 whilert is 0,396. Therefore, the blank hypothesis is rejected while the active hypothesisis approved. This suggest that it is worthwhile having English Mindset Coachingprogram to support English speaking skill of students.
