Abstract

This research is about the analysis of derivational process of Englishnouns as found in some of the Jakarta post articles (published on January, 2nd2012). This research discussed about the process of English noun words that addby derivational affixes in the some of the Jakarta post articles. This research usedlibrary research. Focusing on the problem statements, there are five cases. Theyare what are the derived nouns found in some of the Jakarta post articles, does theprocess of affixation change the category of the base words, do the new derivedwords change in the meaning, do the affixations occur in the specific root andwhat are the categories of the derived noun. In analyzing the derivational processthe writer applied the theory of derivational by Robert Lado (1964), EdwardFinnegan (2003) and other. In this theory the derivational morphemes can changethe core of meaning and often the class of word. Based on the theory the writeralso found that the English nouns word which added trough derivational occurchange the core of meaning and change the class of some words.
