Abstract

Classroom action research is research designed to help a teacherfind out what is happening in her or his classroom and to use thatinformation to make wise decisions for future. Classroom action researchis cycling processes. This research consists of three cycles. The writer and.;ollaborator make wise decisions to use audio lingual method to improveinterest and achievement of students. This research is aimed to find outlearning condition of an English classroom at MTs At-taqwa Wonokerto.The second purpose is to find out the process of teaching plural noun byusing Audio-lingual method. The third is to find out whether teachingplural noun through the using of Audio-lingual method irr.proves student'sachievement. In this research, Audio- Lingual method is used to increasestudents' achievement in learning plural noun. This research is carried outat MTs At-taqwa Wonokerto , Bandar, especially in class VIII B thatconsists of 41 students. In collecting the required data, the writer usesobservation, test, and documentation. There are three cycles in thisclassroom action research, in which each cycle is divided to fourprocedures namely; planning, acting, observing and reflecting and consistsof two meetings. The results of pre-test and posttest are used to know theimprovement of the students' plural noun. Based on the research findings,it can be concluded that the process of teaching plural noun usin audio­lingual method is to improve the students' achievement in learing pluralnoun and to motivate tile students to be active in the classroom. The meanscore of the cycle I, in pre-test =55, 73 and post test= 61, 95. In the cycleII, pre test= 69, 39 and pos test= 77, 92. And then in cycle II, pre test=74, 87 and post test== 84, t)2. The students' score is getting better in eachcycle. It indicates that the students' achievement in learning plural nounimproves. Therefore, it is better for the students to study English carefullythrough practice and experience, and to beactive and creative in learningEnglish.
