Abstract

ABSTRACT Khoiriyah, Siti. 2019. The Correlation Between Students’ Motivation and Their Learning Achievement in Reading Comprehension at the Eleventh Grade of SMK N 3 Salatiga. A Graduating Paper. Counselor: Sari Famularsih, S.Pd.I., M.A. The objective of this study were: (1) to find out the students’ motivation in reading comprehension at the eleventh grade students of SMK N 3 Salatiga. (2) to find out the students’ achievement in reading comprehension at the eleventh grade students of SMK N 3 Salatiga. (3) to find out the correlation between students’ motivation and their learning achievement at the eleventh grade students of SMK N 3 Salatiga. This study used correlation method and quantitative approach. The sample of this research were 30 students over the population of all eleventh grade students of SMK N 3 Salatiga in the academic year 2019/2020. The instruments of this research Motivation for Reading Questionnair (MRQ) questionnaire and reading comprehension test. The data were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment. The results of data analysis showed that students’ motivations for reading questionnaire (MRQ) was 87.37, it means that the students’ motivation was high and the mean score of reading comprehension test was 70.80, it means that the students’ achievement in reading comprehension was average. The result also showed that there was correlation between students’ motivation and their learning achievement at the eleventh grade students of SMK N 3 Salatiga. With ????value = 0.496 > rtable 5% = 0.361. Key Words: Achievement, Correlation, Motivation, Reading Comprehension.
