The Use of Group Work Technique to Improve Students’ Reading Comprehension (A Classroom Action Research in the Ninth Grade Students of Mts Negeri 2 Magelang in the Academic Year of 2019/2020). Counselor: Dr. Mashlihatul Umami, M.A. Keyword: Reading Comprehension, Group Work Technique The objectives of the study are: (1) To find out the use of Group Work Technique to improve students’ reading comprehension of the ninth grade of MTs Negeri 2 Magelang. (2) To find out whether the use of Group Work Technique to improve students’ reading comprehension of the ninth grade of MTs Negeri 2 Mgelang or not. (3) To know the extent of the students’ improvement in reading comprehension after the use of Group Work Technique for the ninth grade of MTs Negeri 2 Magelang. The subject of the research consists of 36 students of the ninth grade at MTs Negeri 2 Magelang. This research methodology is Classroom Action Research (CAR). There are two cycles and every cycle incudes planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The use of Group Work Technique was success to makes the students interest and enthusiasm during learning activity. The result of the research shows that the mean of pre-test cycle I is 63.3 and post-test cycle I is 71.3. Meanwhile, the mean of pre-test cycle II is 74.7 and post-test cycle II is 80.9. The percentage of minimum passing grade of cycle I is 16.6% and 47.2%. In cycle II, the percentage of minimum passing grade is 38.9% and 88.9%. The improvement in cycle I is 30.6% and cycle II is 50%. The result of T-test in cycle I (5.97) and cycle II (7.79) are higher than T-table (2.030). It means that there is an improvement of students’ reading comprehension after the use of Group Work Technique.
