Abstract

This article is a critical analysis of the problems related to Arabic learning and teaching in Islamic Higher Education or Islamic Universities in Indonesia. Starting with describing the roles of Arabic for Islamic studies and international communication, the writer explores causes of students weakness of mastering the language. The writer also proposes some alternative solutions to the problems in the form of policies and teaching strategy development.
