Abstract

Irawan, Asvin. 2020. “AN ERROR ANALYSIS IN USING PREPOSITION OF PLACE IN WRITING NARRATIVE TEXT AT THE TWELFTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMA WALISONGO PECANGAAN JEPARA IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2019/2020”. A Graduating Paper. English Education Department Teacher Training and Education Faculty. State Institue for Islamic Studies (IAIN) Salatiga. Advisor: Faizal Risdianto, S.S., M.Hum. The aim of this research is to identify students’ errors in using the prepositions especially the prepositions of place. This research was conduct in SMA Walisongo Pecangaan at Twelfth-Grade students especially in Science Program. The instrument of this research was students’ worksheet. After collecting the data, the researcher identified students’ errors and divide the errors based on surface strategy taxonomy.The finding of the research shows errors made by student are 65 items. There are 6 items (9.23%) of misordering errors, 11 items (16.92%) of Addition errors, 16 items (24.61%) of Omission errors, and 32 items (49.23%) of Misformation errors. From the finding of the research the most dominant errors in using the prepositions especially the prepositions of place is Misformation errors (49.23%). Key words: Error, Writing, Narrative Text, Preposition of Place.
