Abstract
This research was intended to know the use of guided question technique and to find out the difference and its significant level of students’ mastery of writing descriptive text of the tenth grade students of SMA Islam Sudirman Ambarawa in the academic year 2019/2020. This research of methodology was experimental research. The population of this study was tenth grade students at SMA Islam Sudirman Ambarawa that consisted of 343 students. The sample was 36 students chosen through random sampling technique. The instrument for collecting data was tests which were given at the beginning and the last meeting after the treatment. The data of pre-test and post-test were analyzed by using paired sample tests. At the end of this study, the researcher took conclusion as follows: after analyzing data, (1) The students’ mastery of writing descriptive text before being taught by using guided question technique showed the average of the score was 67 with the highest score was 80 and the lowest score was 50. The students’ scores after being taught using guided question technique showed that the average of the score was 78 with the highest score 90 and the lowest score was 65. There is difference Mb (78) > Ma (67), it showed that the teaching learning activity by using guided question technique is effective to increase student’s mastery of writing descriptive text. (2) Based on paired samples test result p-value (2 tailed) = 0.00 that is lower than the significance level sig ?=0.05. the statistical result indicated that the null hypothesis is rejected and alternative hypothesis is accepted. There is significant difference of ttest (12.895) > ttable (0.2746). It showed that ttest was in null hypothesis rejection (Ho). Thus, alternative Hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It means the hypothesis which the researcher proposed that there was significant difference of using guided question technique to the mastery of writing descriptive text was acceptable.
