Abstract

This study is aimed to know the types of students’ mistake especially on language features of Recount text and to know dominant mistake are found in the text. This research was a Descriptive Qualitative. The techniques of collecting data were observation, test and documentation. The subject of this research were the eighth grade students of tahfidz class of MTs Negeri Salatiga. It considered 20 students. The research found several findings based on the analysis of the students’ test result. There are four types of mistake that occur in recount text and they are the language features of recount text : 1) focuses on specific participant (LF 1), 2) adverb of place and time (LF 2), 3) using the temporal sequence (LF 3) 4) using the past tense (LF 4). For the result of percentage in each mistake was on language feature of focuses on specific participant (LF 1) with 9.6%, using adverb place and time (LF 2) 15.4%, using the temporal sequence (LF 3) 15.4 % and for using past tense (LF 4) 59.6%. From the result, the researcher conclude that the dominant mistake was occur in using past tense, it is 59.6%.
