Abstract

ABSTRACT Aini, Aulia Nurul. 2020. Errors Analysis of Inflectional Morpheme in Descriptive Text Written by Seventh Grade of SMP N 1 Mungkid in The Academic Year 2019/2020, Counselor: Faizal Risdianto, S.S., M.Hum. Keywords: Morphology, Inflectional Morpheme, Error Analysis One of the skills that should be mastered by English students is writing. There are several problems that faced by the students in writing descriptive text. Most of them have limited vocabulary, they confused to choose the corrected vocabulary, and got difficulty to understand the meaning especially inflectional morpheme. The objectives of the study are to find the type of inflectional morpheme, frequent type of inflectional morpheme errors, and the cause of the errors used in descriptive text written by seventh-year student of SMP N 1 Mungkid. This study implemented the methodology of qualitative research. This study used observation and interview questioner method to got the data sources. The researcher took the data from the student of writing fill in the blank in descriptive text. The research got 28 descriptive texts to be analyzed. Based on data analysis, the researcher found 4 types inflectional use in descriptive text and 204 inflection morphemes errors that is found in 28 descriptive texts written by students. This analysis defined that most of students made error in third person singular inflection 50% with (102 items ), the second level is Plural inflection 31% with (63 items), the third is progressive inflection 10% with (21 items) and the last possessive inflection 9% with (19 items). The researcher concludes that the functions of every inflectional morpheme made students confused to choose the right answer. Most of students knew the root of a word form, but the additional suffixes on a word in sentence made them confused so, most of students made errors.
