Abstract
In learning, reading has important role. It is the one of many language skills that should be developed inside the classroom. It is also one of the common ways to get information. In order to accomplish student’s need of reading, reading becomes one of the skills need to be mastered in English that must be taught in schools. As a formal education institution, MTs Miftahul Huda has English subject that is taught to the students. Based on Curriculum 2013, the purposes of teaching English in MTs Miftahul Huda Pabelan especially in reading skill are understanding and responding simple texts. In this research, the researcher used RCRR Strategy. This strategy was intended for the English teacher to improve students’ reading comprehension in English learning. The research subjects of this study were 22 students from second grade of MTs Miftahul Huda Pabelan, Semarang Regency. The research method used in this study was a classroom action research. In collecting data, the writer conducted pre-test and post-test by serving reading comprehension test which consist 10 essay questions for each test. The research was conducted into two cycles, cycle I and cycle II to see to what extend the students’ reading comprehension improvement after applying RCRR Strategy. In analyzing data, the writer used mix method technique, which was quantitative and qualitative technique. The result of this study shows that there is significant difference on students’ reading comprehension after applying RCRR (Read, Cover, Remember, Retell) Strategy .In the table calculation, it can be seen that the result of to of cycle II is 10.96 and the tt for this research is 1.7, that can be concluded that the value of to is bigger than tt, It can be written as 1.7 ? 10.96 .The hypothesis (H) is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that teaching reading by using RCRR strategy can improve the students’ reading comprehension. The conclusion of this research is there was significant difference in students’ comprehension after implementing RCRR strategy. It is proved that the score of the post-test is higher than the score of the pre-test.
