This research is aimed to know whether the use Pre-Reading Plan (PReP) Strategy can enhance students’ achievement in reading skill of Narrative text at first grade of SMK PGRI 1 Salatiga. This strategy is intended for the English teacher to create a better strategy in teaching reading. By cluster random sampling, the writer took the samples. The sample of this study is 40 students taken from first grade of SMK PGRI 1 Salatiga, which are 20 students as experimental group and 20 students as controlled group. The research method used in this study was a quantitative method and the research design used in this study was a quasi-experimental design. In collecting data, the writer conducted pre-test and post-test by serving reading comprehension test which consist 20 multiple choice items for each test. In analyzing data, the writer used t-test. The result of this study shows that there is significant difference on students’ reading comprehension in Narrative text with pre-reading plan (PReP) strategy. In the table of significance, it can be seen that on the df = 38 and the degree of significance 5% and 1%, the value of significance degree is 2.02 and 2.71. By comparing the value to is bigger than tt, that is 2.02 < 5.43 > 2.71, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. Therefore, it can be interpreted that teaching reading through pre-reading strategy can enhance the students’ reading comprehension.
