Syamsudin. 2020. An Error Analysis on the Adverbs Used in Recount Texts Produced by Tenth Grade Students of MA Ma’arif Cepogo in the Academic Year of 2019/2020. A Graduating Paper. English Education Department. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. State Institute for Islamic Studies Salatiga. Counselor: Hammam, Ph.D. The research was aimed to analyze the errors made by students in using adverb of time in writing recount text of the Tenth Grade Students of MA Ma’arif Cepogo in the Academic Year of 2019/2020. The subject of this research consists of 12 students in X IPA. The objectives of the study were (1) to describe about the errors made by students, (2) to know the error percentages, (3) and to analyze the most dominant error of using adverb of time in writing recount text at the tenth grade students of MA Ma’arif Cepogo in the academic year of 2019/2020. This study used qualitative research, with descriptive method. The instruments of the research are test and documentation. The errors were collected, identified, and classified based on the Surface Structure Taxonomy by Dulay. It was specified by four types of errors namely omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. The result showed that the most dominant errors made by students was Omission (41.66%). The second errors made by students was Misformation (37.5%). The third errors made by students was Addition (12.5%). The lowest frequency of error was Misordering (8.33%). The research proved that the students still did not understand the material given by the teacher. The errors occurred because the students were mostly confused about using adverb of time in writing recount text. Keywords: Error analysis, adverb of time, recount text
