Abstract

ABSTRACT Khusniyah. Mar’atul. 2020. An Analysis of EFL Students’ Perception in Making English Story on WhatsApp (A research study at the fourth semester of IAIN Salatiga). A Graduating Paper. English Education Department. Teacher Training and Faculty. State Institute for Islamic Studies Salatiga. Counselor: Dra. Widiastuti, M.Pd. The purpose of this research is to know EFL students’ perception of making an English story on WhatsApp at the fourth semester of IAIN Salatiga. This research generally answered two questions: (1). How the EFL students’ perception in making an English story on WhatsApp. (2). What are the benefits and problems of the EFL students in making an English story onWhatsApp. The methodologies of the research were qualitative research. The techniques of collecting data were observation, interview, and documentation. The interview consists of 30 respondents in the fourth semester of EFL students at IAIN Salatiga. The interview to find out the students’ perception in making an English story on WhatsApp, and to find out the benefits and problems in making an English story on WhatsApp. The writer finds a positive perception of students about making an English story on WhatsApp. Most EFL students felt happy when making English story on WhatsApp. In addition, the second perception is negative perception. Some of the EFL students do not improve their English after making an English story on WhatsApp. The benefits of the EFL students got new knowledge after making an English story on WhatsApp application and improving the writing and reading skills of EFL students. The problems are they found some difficulties in grammar, translation, and arrange the vocabulary when making English story on WhatsApp. Key Words:Students’ Perception; English Story on WhatsApp Application.
