Abstract

Ana, Kiki Kristiya. 2020. The Correlation Between The Students’ Cognitive Learning And Their Reading Skill At The First Year Students Of SMP N 1 Kasiman In Academic Year 2019/2020. A Graduating Paper submitted to the board of examiners as a partial fulfillment of the requirements for the bachelor degree of Sarjana Pendidikan (S.Pd). State Institute For Islamic Studies (IAIN) Salatiga. Counselor: Heru Saputra,S.Pd.I.,M.A. This study aimedat answering the following research questions: (1) Is there a correlation between cognitive learning and their reading skills at the first year students of SMP N 1 Kasiman? (2) Is there a significant correlation between students’ cognitive learning and their reading skills at the first year students of SMP N 1 Kasiman? This research was conducted find out correlation between the students’ cognitive learning and their reading skills. This research was also conducted to find out significant correlation students’ cognitive learning and their reading skills at the first year students of SMP N 1 Kasiman. The population of this study were seventh grade junior high school students. There are 64 students involved in this study. The methodology of this research is quantitative research. Data is collected through students' responses to the questionnaire and documentation. There is a positive correlation result of showing rxy = 0.407. Level coefficient correlation 0.407 of strength is categorized moderate and direction correlation is positive or unidirectional. There is a significant correlation result of showing rsig.2-tailed can be compared with a scale of significance, this is rsig.value 0.05. Rsig.2-tailed = 0.000 < 0.05 rsig.value. Because, rsig.2- tailed lower than rsig.value it meant there is significant correlation. So, the correlation between students, cognitive learning and their reading skills at the first year students of SMP N 1 Kasiman in academic year 2019/2020 is moderate, positive or unidirectional , and significant.
