Abstract

Lestariningsih, Nur. 2020. An Analysis of Deixis on Comments of TED Channel YouTube. Graduating Paper. English Education Department of Teacher Training and Education Faculty State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) Salatiga. Counselor: Dr. H. Sa’adi, M. Ag. This research aims to know the deixis found in the Comment of TED Channel YouTube, there is so much linguistics expression in the comment, but the researcher only focuses to find the deictic expression in the comment. There are two objectives of the research: 1) To find the types of deixis in the comments of TED channel YouTube, 2) To find the dominant deixis in the comments of TED channel YouTube. The researcher used a documentation technique to analyzed the comment and also incorporates with simple quasi quantitative on the form to calculate the number of each deixis in the comments. The result of the research found 275 deictic expression and person deixis is the dominant deictic expression in the comment. The number of person deixis 244 deictic expression, 4 deictic expression of place deixis, 4 deictic expression of time deixis, 37 deictic expression of discourse deixis, and 6 deictic expression of social deixis.
