Abstract

The research was aimed to analyze the errors made by students in using preposition of place in recount text and to find out the solution how can students avoid making the same errors in the future at Eight Grade Students of SMP Negeri 4 Tengaran in the Academic Year 2020/2021. The subject of this research consists of 18 students in 8A. This study used qualitative research, with descriptive method. The instruments of the research is a test. The errors were collected, identified, and classified based on Jha (1991). It was specified by three types of errors namely omission, insertion and selection. The result show that the errors made by students are totally selections. To make the students can avoid making the same error again in the future, the teacher can teach them more deeply in the application preposition of place.
