Abstract

Nuraini, Intan. 2021. Readers Perceptions on the Quality of Indonesian-English Translation in Webtoon fan Translation. A Graduating Paper. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. English Education Department. State Institute for Islamic Studies Salatiga. Counselor:HanungTriyoko,S.S.,M.Hum.,M.Ed. This research aims to find out readers perceptions on the quality of Indonesian-English translation in Webtoon fan translation. This research belongs to the qualitative research. The subjects were 50 common comic readers in Webtoon. The data are collected by questionnaire using Google form. The data were gained from the general perceptions’ of the translation quality supported by common comic readers in Webtoon. Researcher categorized the data into ten translation quality by Neubert, Walter, and Baker’s theory. The researcher accumulated 10 categories of translation quality. Based on the analysis undertaken, the researcher found the result of translation quality used are (clear meaning of information = 16% good, 76% very good, 8% not good), (success of translating = 22% very good, 72% good, 6% not good), (detailed explanation = 24% very good, 12% good, 6% not good), (according to fact = 26% very good, 58% good, 16% not good), (naturalization = 20% very good, 64% good, 16% not good), (copy of translation = 18% very good, 58% good, 24% not good), (standards of translation = 24% very good, 64% good, 12% not good), (translation accuracy =28%very good, 54% good, 18%not good), (paraphrase in translation= 16% very good, 66% good, 18% not good), (sentence structure = 28% very good, 66%good,6%notgood).
