Abstract

Prihatini, Wiwik Rokhaeni. 2021. An Analysis Teachers’ Strategies in Teaching Reading Skills for Procedure Text at SMP Negeri 1 Bergas and MTs Yajri Payaman In The Academic Year 2020/2021. A graduating paper, English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, State Institute for Islamic Studies Salatiga. Counselor: Aprilian Ria Adisti, M.Pd. The purpose of this study was to determine the teachers’ strategies in teaching reading skills for procedure text and the obstacles were faced by teachers in teaching reading skills for procedure text. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Bergas located in Gembongan Village, Bergas District, Semarang Regency and at MTs Yajri Payaman located on Jl. Kalibening No. 64 Payaman. The subjects of this study were four teachers. This research was conducted on September 4-25, 2021. The methodology of this research was qualitative research. The data was collected by observation, interview, and documentation. The validity of the data technique is the triangulation of technique. The researcher founds: 1) The strategies used by teachers in teaching reading procedure text include: using video on youtube, using picture, higher order thinking skills (HOTS), mind mapping, memorizing strategy, group discussion, and game. 2) The obstacles faced by the teacher are the lack of students' vocabulary, difficulty of pronunciation, students are lazy to read, students are anxious and feel bored.
