Abstract

ABSTRACT Masalina, Ella. 2021. An Analysis of Teaching Strategy in Teaching Listening for The Twelfth Grade Majoring Science and Social Studies at MA Sunan Prawoto in The Academic Year 2021/2022. A graduating paper, English Education Department, Teacher and Education Faculty, State Institute for Islamic Studies Salatiga. Conselor: Aprilian Ria Adisti, M.Pd. The purpose of this study was to determine the teacher’s strategy in teaching listening, the problems do the the English teacher’s in teaching listening, and the solution used by the English teacher in teaching listening. This research was conducted at MA Sunan Prawoto located in Prawoto Village, Sukolilo District, Pati Regency. The subject of this study were two teacher. This research was conducted on 15th November until 6th December 2021. The methodology of this research was qualitative research. The data was collected by observation, interview, and documentation. The validity of the data technique is the triangulation of technique. The researcher founds: 1) The strategies used by teachers in teaching listening is bottom-up processing strategy and top-down processing strategy. 2) the problem faced by teacher are the lack students of vocabulary, difficulty of pronunciation, the lack of students knowledge about listening. 3) The solution of this problem is given stimulus before learning, practicing listening English with listen to a song and watching English movie.
