Abstract

The aims of this research is to improve student on reading comprehension using two stay two stray in analyzing narrative text for the second year students of MTs NU Salatiga in the academic year of 2015/2016, This research will answer these main question 1) How is the profile of eight grade students reading comprehension of MTs NU Salatiga in the academic year 2015/2016, 2) How is the students’ achievement who are thought reading comprehension by using two stay two stray and without it?, 3) Is there any significant difference of student achievement in reading comprehension taught by using two stay two stray and those taught without two stay two stray? This is a quantitative research with experimental method; with the total number of the sample were 58 students. The data of this study was taken from using pre-test and post-test; the research data were analyzed by using T-test. The formula used to find out the difference between pre-test and post-test. Based on the statistical analysis, it could be seen from the result of mean score of pre-test of VIII A (experimental group) is 49.867 and VIII C (control group) is 49.143. The result of mean score of post-test VIII A (experimental group) is 62.933 and VIII C (control class) is 57.571. Based on the result of t-test analysis shows that, the t-test of pre-test is 0.494 while the t-test of post-test is 2.908, the t-table with 5% significant 56 shows 2.0032, it indicates that two stay two stray can improve reading comprehension in analyzing narrative text in second year students of MTs NU Salatiga in the academic year of 2015/2016.
