Abstract

Dhuroh, Badidatut. 2021. An Analysis of English Corner's Strategies Used to Improve Student's Motivation in Learning English (A Descrptive Study at The Student Association of English Education Department 2020-2021). A Graduating Paper, English Education Department, Teacher Training, and Education Faculty, State Institute for Islamic Studies Salatiga. Counselor: Hammam, M.Pd., Ph.D. The study is about the English Corner's strategies to improve student's motivation in learning English. The objectives of this study are (1) to know English Corner's strategies used by the Student Association of English Education Department Committee to improve student's motivation in learning English and (2) to know how the English Corner improve student's motivation in learning English by using their strategies. The method of this study was qualitative research with a descriptive qualitative approach. The subject of this study is the Chairman of the Student Association of English Education Department 2020-2021, the Chairman of Education and Training Division, the Chairman of English Corner activity, and the Participants of English Corner Activity. The techniques of collecting data were interviews. The validity of data is the triangulation method. The English Corner’s strategies used by the Student Association of English Education Department 2020-2021 are preparing interesting themes, inviting experts speakers and using billingual presentation. The English Corner's is able to improve students motivation in learning English. It is indicated by several indicator of improvement motivation such as inspiration for the future, appreciation in learning process, exciting activies in learning as well as there is a will to succeed.
