Abstract

This research aims to identify the followers’ perceptions toward the benefits of learning vocabulary using @EnglishFestID account on Twitter. The objectives of the study were, (1) to identify the followers’ perception on the benefits of using @EnglishFestID account in learning Englishvocabulary, (2) to describe how @EnglishFestID account helps to improve English vocabulary mastery based on their followers’ perception, (3) to find out what are the advantages and obstacles of learning vocabulary through the @EnglishFestID account on Twitter. the qualitative descriptive method was used in conducting this study and to obtain the data, the researcher used open-ended questionnaire. As research participants, 30 random Twitter followers from the @EnglishFestID account who were 18- 25 years old and had followed the @EnglishFestID account for at least one month were chosen. According to the findings of this study, followers of the @EnglishFestID account believe that learning vocabulary through the @EnglishFestID account on Twitter was very beneficial in their vocabulary learning process, and they genuinely think that learning through the @EnglishFestID account is enjoyable and the content is easy to access, so they have a positive experience while learning to use the @EnglishFestID account on Twitter. This entails demonstrating that the existence of learning platforms on social media, such as @EnglishFestID, receives a positive response from English learners, implying that this can be a viable alternative as a medium and learning resource that assists English learners independently outside of formal learning.
