Counselor: Dr. Maslihatul Umami, M.A. This research has the aims (1) to determine the profile of learning video mediated by WhatsApp to boost reading comprehension of narrative text before and after the use WhatsApp for the eighth-grade students of SMPN 1 Pulau Rimau, and (2) to determine the effectiveness of learning video mediated by WhatsApp to boost reading comprehension on narrative text for the eighth-grade students of SMPN 1 Pulau Rimau. The technique used in this research is pre-experimental where the pre-test and post-test groups are the design. This study uses the independent variable which is WhatsApp medium and the dependent variable which is reading comprehension. In collecting the data, the techniques applied are pre-test and post-test with data analysis implementing the n-gain score test and t-test techniques. The result of this study before using WhatsApp as a medium to improve reading comprehension, class VIII.2 students at SMPN 1 Pulau Rimau obtained an average pre-test score of 63.2. Meanwhile, after using WhatsApp, the average post-test score was 85.8. The use of WhatsApp as a medium in optimizing students' reading abilities is shown by the results of the t-test, namely t count (5.678)> t-table (1.712), and the n-gain score test obtained a value of 0.61. It means that the use of WhatsApp as a medium to improve reading comprehension is effectively used with a medium level of effectiveness. Keywords: WhatsApp, Reading Comprehension
