Abstract

The purposes of the research are to identify the sorts of illocutionary actions presented in the teacher's talk. And explain what each illocutionary deed signifies in the teacher's talk. This is a descriptive study that was conducted for the first time in April 8th 2021 at the Tengaran Nurul Islam High School during the 2020/2021 academic year. Observation and documentation were used to acquire research data. In the discipline of observation, researcher monitor activities. According to the research findings, the sorts of illocutionary actions discovered in the teacher's speech include representative (36.7%), directive (46.7%), commissive (3.3 %), expressive (13.3 %), and declaration (0 %). And the purpose of each illocutionary act above is that the teacher wants to be closer to the students so that learning can be conveyed properly. This analysis can be extremely beneficial to researchers and other academics. The findings of this study reveal what types of illocutionary acts are used by the teacher when teaching in the classroom, and the intent of each illocutionary act in the teacher's talk. As a result, the teacher may utilize the appropriate terms when teaching in class. Other researchers can undertake more studies on the same topic in the future.
