Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of finding out about the effectiveness of the use of the chain writing method on teaching descriptive text to 8th grade students of MTs SA Pancasila Salatiga in the 2022/2023 academic year. This study used a quasi-study with 85 students as the population. The sample used in this study were 46 students consisting of 23 experimental class students and 23 control class students. The experimental class is taught using the chain writing method and the control class does not use the chain writing method in the learning process. The researcher used the Chain writing method in learning and uses other supporting media used by the teacher. The researcher used the test as a data instrument. The tests were carried out 2 times, namely pre-test (before treatment) and post-test (after treatment). Researchers used the t-test to analyze the data that had been obtained, the t-test was used to determine the significance of the data. In the pre-test data, there is an average difference between the experimental class and the control class, the experimental class with an average value of 60,869 and the control class with an average value of 61,521. After the treatment, the post test value obtained was the experimental class was higher with an average value of 75,217 and the control class was 67,826. After calculating the data using the t-test, the value of the t-test is 2.40, which is higher than the significant value of 5% (2.00). Thus, it can be concluded that the chain writing method can have an effect on teaching descriptive text writing to eighth grade students of MTs SA Pancasila Salatiga.
