Abstract

The purposes of this research is to (1) find out whether using English songs can improve listening skills in the ninth grade of MTs N 2 Demak in the academic year 2021/2022, (2) find out whether using English songs are effective in improving listening skills in the ninth grade of MTs N 2 Demak in the academic year 2021/2022. This research uses a quantitative research and the method of this study was pre-experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test. The population in this study were all students of class IX A (29 students). The data collection technique used is a test, there are two tests, namely pre-test and post-test. For data analysis, researcher used a normality test, homogeneity test, and t-test or paired sample t-test. Based on the results of the statistical calculation, the average pre-test is 60,86 while post-test is 80,69. In testing the hypothesis using the paired sample t-test, the result was sig (2-tailed) 0,00 > 0,05 which means Ho is rejected while Ha is accepted. It can be concluded that using English songs are effective for improving listening skills in the ninth grade of MTs Negeri 2 Demak in the academic year of 2021/2022.
