Abstract

Kristanto, Feri. 2023. An Analysis of Foreign Language Learning and Acquistion of Students of MA Muallimin Kandangan. A Graduating Paper. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. English Education Department. State Islamic University (UIN) Salatiga. Counselor: Dr Hanung Triyoko, S.S., M.Hum., M.Ed. This research was conducted to analyze students' learning and foreign language acquisition. This study uses a qualitative descriptiove method. The research was conducted at MA Muallimin Kandangan. 15 students and 1 teacher participated in this study. Data were collected using observation and interviews to find out how they learned and acquired a foreign language and its difficulties. The results of the study found that students learn English and acquire English or a foreign language, from the interview results, all of students learn English and mostly of students acquire English, and mostly have difficulties in learning and all of students have difficulties in acquiring the English language. The researcher found that they learned and acquired a foreign language, but they had difficulties in learning English. These difficulties covered four aspects of learning English, including listening, speaking, writing and reading. These were influenced by motivation, low levels of self-confidence, differences in how to read the first language with English, and school facilities, in the acquisition of a foreign language their difficulties include, lack of motivation, getting used to the first language, and the environment.
