Abstract

The aimed of this research was to figure out if there was a correlation between gender and parents' socioeconomic position and students' English achievement at the eleventh grade SMKN 1 Selo Boyolali. Using the quantitative research approach, and the correlative study. The sample was 64 students from different department namely APH department, UPW department and TSM department, using the purposive sampling to gain the data. Documentation was utilized to get data on students' English proficiency, and questionnaires were used to gather information on students' gender and socioeconomic background from their parents. In SPSS 23.0, Pearson-Product Moment Correlation was used to examine the data. Based on the data analysis, the correlation between gender and English achievement students were in high level, it is mean that there was a differences between male and female students. In opposite parents' socioeconomic status was classified as middle-class to lower class. This mean that parents socio economic does not affect the students achievement. The correlation between students' English achievement and parents' socioeconomic status of SMKN 1 Selo Boyolali eleventh grade students can be classified as fair (0,434) correlation with the students' English achievement. This study investigates the effect of gender and parents' socioeconomic level on students' English achievement.
