Abstract

Fauziyah, Amalia. 2023 An Analysis of Students’ Anxiety in Online English Learning During the Pandemic Covid-19. A Graduating Paper, English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty of State Islamic University Salatiga. Counsellor Mr. Miftachudin, M. A. This study is determining students’ anxiety in online English learning and the factors affecting students’ anxiety in online English learning during the pandemic Covid-19 among students English Education Department of UIN Salatiga Batch 2020. This study aims to know how students’ anxiety in online English learning during the Pandemic Covid-19 and what the factors affecting students' anxiety in online English learning during the pandemic covid-19. The researcher chose a qualitative approach to conduct this study. In this study, closed-ended questionnaires and semi-structural interviews was utilized to get information and data from respondents. 22 students fulfilled the questionnaire and the researcher interviewed 3 of them. The researcher used Google Forms to make a questionnaire and spread it to the respondent via Whatsapp. The subject of study was students English Education Department of UIN Salatiga batch 2020. The results of the research that have been carried out show that: First, according to the research findings, the anxiety in online English learning of students English Education Department of UIN Salatiga batch 2020 is low. The majority of students do not worry about doing online English learning because they feel more anxious while doing face-to-face English learning. They can keep up with online English learning progress. Their anxiety is categorized as Specific-situation Anxiety. Second, according to the questionnaires and interviews results, the following are the findings of this research study on factors affecting students’ anxiety in online English learning during the pandemic covid-19: a) Lack of confidence, b) test anxiety, c) students’ beliefs and readiness, and d) internet network connections.
