Abstract
‘Nugraheni, M. D. (2023). The Use of Apples to Apples Game in English Vocabulary Lessons at Seventh Grade of SMP Muhammadiyah Salatiga in the Academic Year 2022/2023. A Graduating Paper. English Education Department of Teacher Training and Education Faculty. Salatiga State Islamic University (UIN) Salatiga. Counselor: Muhamad Hasbi, M.A. Keywords: Apples to Apples Game, English, Middle School Students, Vocabulary This research aimed to find out the implementation and the challenges faced by the English teacher in using Apples to Apples game in English vocabulary lessons. The subject of this research was the seventh-grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah Salatiga. The researcher used descriptive qualitative method. The researcher used a list of observation, interviews and documentation as instruments to collect data in this research. Based on the findings, the implementation of Apples to Apples game in English class consisted of 3 stages, namely: pre-teaching, whilst-teaching and post-teaching. In pre-teaching the teacher introduced the Apples to Apples game, in the whilst-teaching, the students played Apples to Apples game, and in the post- teaching the teacher explained about the benefits of using Apples to Apples game. The researcher also found the challenges faced by the English teacher in implementing Apples to Apples game in English vocabulary lessons including (1) class management, (2) student motivation and mood. The result of this research showed that Apples to Apples game was interesting to apply in the classroom which improved students' focus in learning vocabulary and it made the learning process in English vocabulary lessons fun and increased students' enthusiasm for learning English vocabulary.
