Abstract

The focus of this research is to discover the teachers' difficulties faced by English teachers and also the teachers strategies in teaching English during distance learning. This study is qualitative study. The subject of this research are 3 (three) English teachers in Muhammadiyah high schools Salatiga. The data is obtained through interviews. A qualitative technique is use to investigate and interpret the data. The researcher found that English taechers at Muhammmadiyah high schools Salatiga had difficulties and strategies in teaching English during distance learning. This research produced to conclusions, firstly the teachers’ difficulties in implementing the component dimension and the components of interaction. Each of these components presents its own set of challenges, such as: setting learning objectives, teachers preparing, making lesson plans, selecting learning media, choosing learning approach, conducting learning evaluations. Secondly, the teachers strategies such as communicative language teaching, task-based language teaching, content and language integrated learning, technology assisted language learning. Overall, this is challenging but still possible in teaching effectively.
