Abstract
The aims of this study are to identify the profile of students' procedure text writing ability before and after using the Padlet application, as well as the effectiveness of using the Padlet application as a medium toward students' procedure text writing ability. This study employs a pre-experimental design with a quantitative approach to analysis. The experiment was carried out with only one group of 25 students at SMK Muhammadiyah Salatiga in the academic year 2022/2023. The score for this study was obtained using a pre-test and a post-test. The first test was a pre-test, which was used to determine students’ scores before they got treatment. The researcher delivers the material using a whiteboard in this pre-test, and the students are then instructed to create a procedure text in a free theme. The researcher then gives treatment using Padlet to provide extensive materials. The second test was a post-test. Students' post-treatment scores were determined using a post-test. Students were requested to write a procedure text related to their major for this test. The findings of this research showed that the average pre-test score (63.2) was lower than the average post-test score (75.2). Students’ average scores increased by up to 12 points after they learn the procedure text using Padlet. The T-test result (8.784) was higher than the T-table (1.711). The N-gain was then 0.32, putting it in the category of medium-level efficacy on the interval 0,3 ≤ g ≤ 0,7. It means that there is a considerable difference in students' capacity to write procedure text before and after being taught utilizing the Padlet application as a learning medium. Padlet was an effective tool for improving students’ procedure text writing ability. The Padlet application assists teachers in delivering lessons and students in understanding stuff in engaging circumstances. Based on these findings, the researcher proposes using the Padlet application to teach procedure text.
