Abstract
This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Tengaran, focusing on using flashcards to increase students’ writing Skill in narrative text. This study aims to find out the effectiveness of flashcards to increase students’ writing Skill in narrative text. The methodology used in this study is quantitative research with a pre-experimental study with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The research subjects were students of class IX H SMP Negeri 1 Tengaran, with a total sample of 27 students. Data was collected through tests, namely pre-test and post-test, and documentation. Data analysis using N-gain test paired sample T-test. The results showed the effectiveness of flashcards to increase students writing Skill in narrative text is proven by the increased average score, the post-test score of 6.85 was higher than the pre-test score of 66.11. Based on statistical analysis, the result of the N-gain test is 0.71, the t-test value is 22.717 higher than the t-table 2.056. This means that there is a significant difference in writing narrative text before and after they are taught using the flashcards. With the use of flashcards, media can help students to write narrative text more easily. Furthermore, it was concluded that the use of flashcard media was proven to be used in writing the narrative text for the ninth grade at SMP Negeri 1 Tengaran.
