Abstract
The objectives of this study are: 1) to find out the difference between the students’ grammar mastery before and after using Board Race Game on the material part of speech. 2) to determine the effectiveness of using Board Race Game to teach students’ grammar mastery on the material part of speech. This research uses quantitative method with pre-experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test; there is only one experimental group and no control group. This research collected data using tests to determine the students’ grammar scores in the pre-test and post-test. The researcher finds a significant difference between the results of students' pre-test and post-test scores. The average of students’ pre-test is 53. Meanwhile, the average of students’ post-test is 67. These results showed an increase of 14 points. In addition, the results from the calculation of t-test on the data obtained the value of sig. (2-tailed) is 0.00 < 0.05, meaning there is a significant difference between the students' pre-test and post-test results. Based on the calculation results, the researcher finds that t-test = 4.680 > t-table = 2.040, with df = 31. From the results of these calculations, the researcher concludes that was accepted and the was rejected. In other words, Board Race Game effectively teaches students grammar mastery in part of speech. It means that the Board Race Game can be used as an alternative technique to teach grammar mastery at school.
