Abstract

ABSTRACT Nikmatussholikhah. (2023). The Effectiveness of British Council Vocabulary Games to Teach English Vocabulary of Eleventh Grade Accounting Students at SMKN 1 Salatiga in the Academic Year of 2022/2023. A Graduating Paper, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, English Education Department, Islamic State University (UIN) Salatiga. Counselor: Muhamad Hasbi, M. A. This research was conducted to find out the effectiveness of British Council Vocabulary Games to Teach English Vocabulary of Eleventh Grade Accounting Students at SMKN 1 Salatiga in the Academic Year of 2022/2023. This study used a quasi-experimental study. The population was 72 students. The samples were 36 students of experimental class and 36 students of control class. The experimental class was taught using British Council Vocabulary Games and the control class used teacher’s explanation and exercises in the learning process. The researcher used tests as the data instrument. The tests were carried out 2 times, namely pre-test (before treatment) and post-test (after treatment). The researcher used the t-test to analyze the data, the t-test was used to determine the significance of the data. As a result, in the pre-test data, there was an average difference between the experimental class (m=55.11111) and the control class (m=50.44444). After the treatment, the post test value was higher (m=78.44444) and the control class was lower (m=56.16666). After calculating the data using the t-test, the value of the t-test was 5.70, which was higher than the significant value of 5% (2.00). Thus, it can be concluded that British Council Vocabulary Games had a significant effect on teaching English vocabulary of eleventh grade accounting students at SMKN 1 Salatiga in the academic year of 2022/2023.
