Abstract

The research aimed at analyzing the English teaching method by the English teachers before and during covid-19 pandemic in SMPN 4 Salatiga in the academic year 2021/2022. The subject of this research consists of 3 English teachers in SMPN 4 Salatiga. The objectives of the study were (1) To know the English teaching method used by the teachers before the covid-19 pandemic and during the covid-19 pandemic at SMPN 4 Salatiga in the academic year 2021/2022, (2) To find out the comparations of English teaching method used by English teachers between before and during covid-19 pandemic at SMPN 4 Salatiga in the academic year 2021/2022.This study used qualitative research, with a descriptive method. The author found that before the covid-19 pandemic teachers tended to use English teaching methods more than 1 (blended method), during the covid-19 pandemic, not all methods could be applied, the limited time used by the teachers in teaching and learning activities during the covid-19 pandemic, from 3 teachers 2 of them said they were comfortable using the teaching method before the covid-19 pandemic and 1 teacher was comfortable using both, some students did not have gadgets and there were also problems with the signal which made it difficult for them to participate in teaching and learning activities during the covid-19 pandemic.
