Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the significance of studying the correlation between students' English song listening habits and students' vocabulary acquisition. This research is a correlational quantitative research. There are two variables in this study. The habit of listening to students' English songs is the independent variable and the level of vocabulary mastery is the dependent variable. Researchers conducted a study to determine whether there was a significant relationship between the habit of listening to English songs and vocabulary acquisition in grade eight students of MTs Negeri Salatiga. This research used cluster random sampling, in data collection, the researcher employed a questionnaire to analyze students’ habit in listening English songs, as well as a vocabulary test to quantify their vocabulary mastery. viii ABSTRACT Qasanah, Uswatun. 2024. From the result, it was found that the mean of the scores of habit listening to English song is 100.87. The mean of the scores of students’ vocabulary mastery test is 85. From the result of correlation calculation by SPSS 23, it can be seen that the value of correlation is 0.193 which interpreted as negative correlation in low level. In addition, the hypothesis H0 is accepted it is there is no significant correlation students’ habit in listening English song and their vocabulary mastery at the second grade students of MTs Negeri Salatiga.
