Abstract

The teacher's strategy in teaching, or teaching strategy, is a general teaching plan that includes the structure, teaching objectives, and tactics necessary to achieve learning goals The purpose of this research is to determine the strategies used by a teacher in teaching reading comprehension The researcher used a qualitative research design to identify the strategies used by teachers in teaching reading comprehension In data collection, the researcher conducted interview questions This research was conducted at Madrasah Aliyah Al-Islam Susukan in May 2024 for the academic year 2023/2024, located on Kilikis Street Rt 01/Rw 01, Susukan, Susukan District, Semarang Regency The research population consisted of English teachers at Madrasah Aliyah Al-Islam Susukan, consisting of two English teachers, and the sample was an 11th grade English teacher selected through simple random sampling. The analysis results indicate the strategies used by teachers in teaching reading comprehension to students at Madrasah Aliyah Al-Islam Susukan Based on interviews and observations, it was found that there are three strategies used by teachers in teaching reading comprehension: reading with monitoring, reading aloud, and question and answer The researcher found that students have problems with pronunciation and vocabulary mastery By reading aloud, students can learn correct pronunciation By reading short texts aloud, students can improve their pronunciation with the guidance of a teacher.
