Abstract

The Use of Scientific Approach to Improve Students’ Writing Skill on Narrative text (A Classroom Action Research in the Eighth Grade Students of SMP Islam Al-Azhar 18 Salatiga in the Academic Year of 2023-2024). Keyword: Writing Skill, Scientific Approach The objective of the study are: (1) To find out the use Scientific Approach to improve students’ writing skill of the eighth grade of SMP Islam Al-Azhar 18 Salatiga. (2) To compare and analyze the differences in writing skills in narrative texts among eighth-grade students at SMP Islam Al-Azhar 18 Salatiga before and after the implementation of the Scientific Approach. The subject of the research consists of 20 students of the eighth grade at SMP Islam Al-Azhar 18 Salatiga. This research methodology is Classroom Action Research (CAR). There are two cycles and every cycle includes planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The use of Scientific Approach was successful in making the students interested and enthusiastic during learning activity. The result of the research shows that the percentage of minimum passing grade of cycle I is 15% and in cycle II, the percentage of minimum passing grade is 50%. The improvement between cycle I and cycle II is 35%. This indicates that there is an improvement of students’ writing skill after the use of Scientific Approach.
