Abstract

The Perception of Game Players About The World Of Warcraft As A Media To Improve Vocabulary Mastery A Graduating Paper, English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, State Islamic University (UIN) Salatiga. Counsellor: Dr. Hanung Triyoko, S.S., M.Hum., M.Ed. World of Warcraft (WoW), a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), is an open-world gaming platform that not only entertains but also provides opportunities for educational exploration. This study aims to find out how to use World of Warcraft as a learning medium for improving vocabulary and find out how players perceive World of Warcraft as a medium for improving vocabulary. This research was conducted on the Discord media platform. The instrument used in this research was questionnaire and data obtained is in the form of groups of sentences that are pure answers from respondents. The data provided offers insights into the acquisition of new vocabulary and its impact on English skills development among World of Warcraft (WoW), players. The conclusion is data reveals that World of Warcraft is seen by players as an effective vocabulary acquisition tool due to its immersive environment and interactive nature, which expose players to diverse and contextual vocabulary and Players generally view World of Warcraft positively for vocabulary improvement due to its engaging, practical context and interactive nature, although some note issues with informal or toxic language.
