Abstract

ABSTRACT Rohmah, Ziana Fauzia. 2024. The Effetiveness Of Bing Image Creator AI and Canva In Teaching Reading Comprehension At The Eight Grade Students of SMP Islam Sudirman Ambarawa in The Academic Year 2024/2025. A Graduating Paper. English Education Department. Teacher Training And Education Faculty. State Islamic (UIN) Salatiga. Counselor: Dra. Widyastuti, M.Pd. The objectives of this research are stated as follows: (1) To find out differences in reading comprehension outcomes before and after using comic strips assisted by Bing Image Creator AI and Canva as a learning tool. (2) To find out how far the use of comic strips assisted by Bing Image Creator AI and Canva can improve the reading comprehension of eighth grade students of SMP Islam Sudirman Ambarawa. This research method is Quasi - Experimental and Quantitative method types. With the design of two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class. The experimental class used comic strips media assisted by Bing Image Creator AI and Canva, while the control class used Powerpoint slides media using ordinary narrative text. The population of class VIII in SMP Islam Sudirman Ambarawa is only two classes. And the sample was 45 students (22 students for experimental class and 23 students for control class). In addition, this research went through the following steps: pre-test, applying treatment, and post-test. The findings of this research showed that the mean pre-test score was 47.27. After treatment, the mean post-test score increased to 65.9. The score increase of 18.63 indicates a significant improvement in students' reading comprehension after the application of media using comic strips assisted by Bing Image Creator AI and Canva. Statistical analysis using the t -test resulted in a calculated t value (to) of 9.7, which far exceeds the t table (tt) which is only 1.712. The result is to (9.7) ˃ tt (1.712). This indicates that the difference between the pre-test and post-test in the experimental class is statistically significant. The N-gain value obtained was 0.35, which falls into the medium category. So, H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus comic strips assisted by Bing Image Creator AI and Canva as learning media proved to be more effective in improving students' reading comprehension.
