Abstract
Squid Game is one of the most familiar current pop cultures among young generations and can be used as an inspiration for making classroom activities. Some authors have shown interest in researching it from the perspective of imperative speech acts of translation strategy in its subtitles (Suheri & Millenia, 2023), the translation of culture-specific concepts in its subtitles (Andrianaki & Lee, 2021), and critical discourse analysis of power struggle and Marxism theory within the series (Ch & Sherazi, 2022), yet only one study related to English language pedagogy was found. Chonnia & Izzah (2022) used Squid Game's Ddakji game simulation to challenge students' vocabulary mastery, finding that, beyond enhancing vocabulary mastery, the Ddakji game made students feel both happy and motivated to engage more with English learning. I wondered, what if more games were incorporated? That curiosity led me to design Squid Game-inspired vocabulary and grammar activities, utilizing a wider range of games from the series to make learning even more dynamic and immersive.
