Abstract
Nugraheni Nurma. 2025. The Implementation of The Discovery Learning Model By Using Picture Series To Enhance Writing Skill Of Recount Text For The Eight Grade Students At SMP N 01 Tengaran Kab. Semarang In the Academic Year of 2024/2025. A Graduating Paper, English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, State Islamic University (UIN) Salatiga. Counselor: Dr. Sari Famularsih S. Pd., M. A. The objectives of the study are : (1) To know how the implementation of the discovery learning model by using picture series to enhance writing skill of recount text (2) To find out the significant improvement in students’ writing skill of recount text by using picture series through the Discovery Learning model for the eight grade students of SMP N 01 Tengaran in the academic year of 2024/2025 The methodology of this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR). This research was conducted in two cycles, and each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subject of this research was class VIII at SMP N 01 Tengaran, which consisted of 32 students. The result of this study demonstrates that the implementation of the Discovery Learning model, utilizing picture series, results in an enhancement of students' recount text writing skills. This increase is evidenced by the total t-test score in cycle I of 5.16, which underwent a substantial rise to 20.79 in cycle II. In cycle I, the average post-test score (64.15) surpassed the pre-test score (40.59). A similar pattern was observed in cycle II, where the average post-test score (77.90) once again surpassed the pre-test score (68.43). These findings indicate that the integration of picture series media with the Discovery Learning model is an effective strategy for enhancing students' writing skills in the context of recount text learning.
