The objectives of this study are (1) to measure the average score of vocabulary mastery in recount text of 7th grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Pabelan who are taught using Kahoot! and PowerPoint (PPT) as media, (2) to determine the effectiveness of the difference in using Kahoot! and PowerPoint (PPT) as media in vocabulary mastery in recount text of 7th grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Pabelan. This research is a quasi-experimental research. The subjects of this study were 60 7th-grade students of SMP Negeri Pabelan. Researchers used data collection techniques that included 20 multiple-choice questions, namely a pre-test and a post- test. Furthermore, the researchers analyzed the pre-test and post-test results by using SPSS 30 for Windows. The results showed that the average score of the experimental class pre-test was 28.67, and the control group was 28.83. This means that students have the same vocabulary mastery ability. The post-test score of the experimental class was higher at 79.67 than the control group at 43.33. This means that students have different abilities in vocabulary mastery. Furthermore, based on statistical analysis using the t-test, the results of the t-test with a significance level of 0.05. The t-test result shows the significance value (sig-2tailed) of 0.001, smaller than 0.05 (0.001 < 0.05), which means Ha is accepted. Based on these results, Kahoot! as a medium is more effective than PowerPoint (PPT) in mastering vocabulary in recount for the 7th- grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Pabelan.
