Abstract

Rohim, Zubaitullah. (2025) A Descriptive Analysis Of Students Difficulties In Understanding Would Rather And Would Prefer In English Sentence. (A Study At The Second Semester Students Of English Education Department Uin Salatiga In The Academic Year 2023/2024). A Graduating Paper, English Education Department, School Of Subject Teacher, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, State Islamic University Salatiga. Counselor: Norwanto. S.Pd., M. Hum., Ph.D. The objectives of the study are to learn about the difficulties faced by Second-semester students and identify students‟ strategies for encountering their difficulties in learning would rather and would prefer in english sentence in english sentence at the second semester students of english education department UIN salatiga in the academic year 2023/2024. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research. This research involved 2 classes of second-semester students of English Education Department UIN Salatiga. The researcher conducted the qualitative research because this method focuses on elaborating the information in-depth and exploring the opinions, thoughts, and defined research questions to answer the objective or research. Therefore, the researcher used tests, interviews, and documentation. The test instrument used in this research is the internal test form of description because it is felt to be easy to identify students' abilities. Interviews were conducted to obtain students' responses regarding difficulties in learning would rather and would prefer as well as students' strategies to encounter their difficulties in learning would rather and would prefer. In this study, researchers collected various data during the research process, including written data and visual data such as photos. The author found that the strategies used by students in understanding would rather and would prefer are students read a lot of material, memorize formulas and practice to writing sentences using would rather and would prefer. They always use one or two sentences every day, take notes, and read exercises. Keywords: Process of learning, English materials, english grammar.
