Abstract

Palupi Dian Asih Andini. 2025. The Use of Board Games to Enhance Students’ Writing Skills on Narrative Text at The Ninth Grade of SMPN 1 Getasan in The Academic Year 2024/2025. A Graduating Paper. English Education Department. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. State Islamic University (UIN) Salatiga. Counselor: Prof. Dr. Sa’adi, M.Ag. The objectives of the study are : (1) To describe how the implementation of board games in enhancing the writing skills of ninth grade students’ at SMPN 1 Getasan in the academic year 2024/2025. (2) To find out the enhancement of student’ writing skills after the implementation of board games in ninth grade at SMPN 1 Getasan in the academic year 2024/2025. The methodology of this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR). This research was conducted in two cycles, and each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subject of this research was class IX at SMPN 1 Getasan, which consisted of 36 students. The result of this research reveals that : (1) The implementation of board games had a significant and consistent impact on enhancing students’ narrative writing skills. This method also improved student engagement by creating a more interactive and enjoyable learning environment that supported the development of ideas in writing. (2) The positive impact after using board games was evident in the improvement of students’ test scores across two cycles. In Cycle I, the average score increased from 60.14 to 73.72 with a t-test value of 7.42, while in Cycle II, it rose from 72.58 to 79.67 with a t-test value of 12.42.
