Abstract

In Indonesia, higher education institutions assign lecturers a tripartite responsibility: teaching, research, and community service, known as Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi. This framework establishes not only the professional duties but also the normative mission for academics, i.e., educating students, advancing knowledge, and contributing to societal welfare (Amalia, 2021). As such, the Tridharma forms the backbone of academic identity and sets the performance expectations for lecturers across public and private institutions (Chairunnisa & Istaryatiningtias, 2022; Yusup et al., 2021). This chapter attempts to map navigation of the triadic missions of teaching, research, and community service, so that they could work hand-in-hand, balancing the professional life and growth of English educators.
