Abstract

The Aim of this research is to find out the implementation and the result of using Think Talk Write (TTW) strategy in improving writing in Descriptive text for the tenth grade students of MAN 2 Semarang in the academic year of 2018-2019. The methodology of the study is classroom action research, where the teacher as a teacher in the teaching learning process and the researcher as an observer in the learning activities. To know the improvement of the study by using Think Talk Write (TTW) strategy, the researcher applied the test namely pre-test and post-test. She implemented two cycles and each cycle consist of four steps: planning, implementation of action, observation, and reflection. The subject of this research is X MIA 1 Class, which consist of 26 students. The data is collected by the observation, test, and documentation. The result of this research shown that there was an improvement of the students‟ writing skill in descriptive text by the use of Think Talk Write (TTW) strategy. It was shown that the result of the cycle I, the mean of the post-test is higher than the mean of the pre-test. The mean of post-test is 70.07 and the mean of the pre-test is 58.96. In the cycle II, the mean of post-test is higher than the mean of pre-test. The mean of post-test is 81.23 and the mean of pre-test are 69.15. It means that the use of Think Talk Write can improve the students‟ writing skill in descriptive text.
